Good news for RV drivers who fell in love with the very easily towed S-Series vehicles: AURA XE with the 3.5L DOHC engine can be flat (dinghy) towed or dolly towed. AURA XR with the 3.6L VVT engine can NOT be flat (dinghy) towed but they CAN be dolly towed. 224 hp 3.5L is OHV, not DOHC. The 250+ hp 3.6L is DOHC, VVT.
The answer is yes. Any 2012 Honda CR-V can be safely towed behind a motorhome, be it a front-drive or AWD version. The one caveat is this: the front-driver can also be towed with its front tires on a dolly, if you're into that sort of thing, but the AWD models cannot — only four-down dinghy towing for that one.
Looking at 2021 Ford Escape Hybrid Titanium for new tow vehicle. Just wondering if both FWD and AWD versions are flat towable? Assuming that Titanium would be able to be ordered in either FWD or AWD version - but please correct me if not. Per comments on this thread, looks like both drive train models could be flat towed.
